Casey Clinkenbeard: App is freakin slick. Can't wait to see what you do with the investment - inspired story, congrats!

Lyle McKeany: Congrats @rrhoover! It's been fun to see PH grow from the start. Big things are in store in the future!

P.S. A clear notifications button would be helpful for those of us obsessed with clearing them, @davidkmckinney.

Jonathon Triest: Hello home screen!.... super pumped! Well done team!

Enric Enrich: 1000 up-votes! @rrhoover @davidkmckinney

James Koole: Brilliant. Really nice first version.

Ryan Hoover: BIG day today. I’m proud to announce our funding today and launch of our iOS app.

Several weeks ago @davidkmckinney, an active Product Hunt user*, offered to build an iOS app. Gladly I responded with a figurative “hell yeah”. Although I know David’s embarrassed by the current build (because he sees all its flaws and opportunity to improve the app), he’s done an AMAZING job with the design and development. Well done, and thanks everyone for the feedback during the design process (annotated mockup here).

*With one exception, everyone working on Product Hunt began as avid users of the product before they reached out to me to join the team. I’m super fortunate.

Rory Reiff: Boom! Congrats on the launch - my time on PH is about to multiply.

Lachlan Campbell: Awesome job guys! The pull-to-refresh animation is AWESOME. I wish you could swipe back to get to the list and upvote comments, though.

David McKinney: This has been so much fun to work on with the team. So excited about Product Hunt and all the things to come.

Andrew Zusman: I'm an Android user, and if anything could convince me to switch it's this app.

Josh Puetz: Yaaasssss!

Gabriel Song: 1500+ upvotes, boom!

Emiel Janson: Booyaahh!! Great day for Product Hunt!!

Andrian V.: Congratulation Ryan! Good Luck and grow your community.

Dave Morin: Huge congrats Ryan! Loving it already.

Lachlan Campbell: @rrhoover @davidkmckinney You guys should implement App Links into the app/website/emails. It would be really awesome to not have to go find the conversation in the app when you see a notification in your email! (Mailbox supports them)

Bram Kanstein (@bramk): w00t!

Sean Sheppard: Very proud of all you. Well done!

Stuart McCroden: I have a feeling that the @producthunt team is going to have to migrate from Heroku soon :)

Colin Devroe: No cat GIFs. ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

Ryan Hoover: Thanks everyone for spreading the word!

Nikita Korotaev: I wrote this comment from within the app:) Very impressed with the progress of the Product Hunt products, business and community. Super!

Dave Ambrose: WOW! Largest and most well-deserved hunt EVER.

Well done team @producthunt!

Matt Galligan: Congrats team! Have loved testing the beta...

Gerry Giacoman Colyer: Because of 4th digit, can't see vote count in app. PH iOS unexpectedlyexposing its own edge case!

David McKinney: @guygal design for your audience, whoever that may be

Ryan Gilbert: @davidkmckinney awesome! great work on the app!

David McKinney: @nikitakorotaev Threaded comments aren't in this version, but they are in the next version, which is actually waiting for review by Apple now.

joel: @rrhoover I really like how the more you do the more privileges you get. Kinda reminds me of stack overflow. How do you see this privilege based model evolving into other platforms ??

joel: @rrhoover I found that tip to search with the * for top products. Any helpful tips for a beginner in my hunt?

Ryan Hoover: @drjoelpalath thanks! :) New iOS update coming soon.

Anuj Tandon: @rrhoover Congrats. Gameshunt for sure.

David McKinney: @emieljanson Thanks Emiel

David McKinney: @nbashaw just, you know, the site. love to meet you one day.

David McKinney: @czug_ operator error on my part :) fix coming soon.

David McKinney: @mikesholiu Thanks Mike for your feedback on the back channel. That has really helped. More please.

Frankie Warren: @davidkmckinney Sounds good! Keep it up. :)

David Spinks: @jtriest haha that was the first thing I did too (=

David McKinney: @brian_lovin Ah! I can test out some animations with you. that would be great.

Ryan Hoover: @mg would love that. We just need to fly @davidkmckinney over from Australia. Seriously, let me know when you're free. We can afford the ticket, now. :)

Lachlan Campbell: @guygal That comment was posted twice...there are some bugs with comments on the iOS app (some just don't appear) cc @davidkmckinney

[deleted user]: @davidkmckinney is your philosophy to design for the lowest common denominator?

Sam Bauch: @lachlanjc unfortunately gmail on iOS strips them. they even convert apple maps deep links to gmaps deep links. but they do win the "app constellation" award - open a youtube deep link via gmail, opens in yt app, with a back button that goes back to gmail.

[deleted user]: @davidkmckinney functional and pragmatic, but normal people is very much a spectrum. A normal person in SF is not a normal person in Mississippi. Lowest common denominator would say you design for that person in Mississippi.

David McKinney: @sippey love to hear any feedback from you. email me if you have any suggestions, fixes, or other thoughts: david@davidmckinney.com

David McKinney: @andhugg I'd love to see that too. great way to browse.

David McKinney: @brian_lovin I have so many in the works, but they just didn't make it into this version. Also, Autolayout and animations, omg.

David McKinney: @iorahul sure. anytime!

David McKinney: @guygal I think designing for normal people is good. Design doesn't have to be fancy, or even look good a lot of the time. Ideally you're designing something that helps people get their job done, or have fun, or whatever your goal is.

Neil Richler: @rrhoover Congrats! The app looks great. I'm excited to see what you and the team do with Product Hunt.

Sam Bauch: @lachlanjc ideally email clients would support platform aware linking - on mobile look up an http URL's deep (app) link through al or twitter meta tags and use those, on desktop use the http protocol.

ultimately I don't think it should fall to content creators (ppl sending the email) to choose or offer multiple link types depending on which device you might read their email on.

Of course you could also build a redirect against user agents, but I never really like the ux of that experience.

Kevin William David: @davidkmckinney What font is it ? Love it!

David McKinney: @williamchanner thanks William. I really love DRT

Jonathon Triest: @cdevroe hahah ... amazing

David McKinney: @daualset thanks Claudio!

David McKinney: @grmeyer @replies are already done :) They're coming in the next version.

Jonathon Triest: @davidkmckinney quick and slick... well done @davidmckinney!

Greg Gilbert: @rrhoover Congrats! :)

David McKinney: @nbashaw you started it all.

Kevin William David: @rrhoover Congrats Ryan & team :)

David McKinney: @nikitakorotaev I am glad to know that worked!

Nikita Korotaev: @davidkmckinney But I don't see your threaded comment from the app :(

David McKinney: @guygal known bug. Also, there is no such thing as user error. only design errors :)

David McKinney: @jameskoole thanks James. lots to do still!

David McKinney: @uptogreg thanks Greg. lots more to come. Just getting started.

Rahul Goel: @davidkmckinney I have to admit, it's something heavily inspired by PH in many ways. Would love to get your feedback on it before I release it to the public. Mind if I drop you and @rrhover line before I do?

Lachlan Campbell: @kwdinc Proxima Nova, just like the web version. It's great.

David McKinney: @lachlanjc ok. great feedback. I can add that : )

David McKinney: @SoleneMa getting meta :)

Lachlan Campbell: @davidkmckinney Yeah, that'd be great. Also, the upvotes section is not so great — you can't tap on anyone's profile nor can you swipe through all the upvotes. Is that coming? :)

Chris L: @davidkmckinney Leave it in but do fun stuff with it. It adds to the character.

David McKinney: @cdevroe I may not be kidding.

David McKinney: @cdevroe noted. I will hide one in the next build.

Brian Lovin: @davidkmckinney aah exciting stuff! I'll be keeping an eye out for updates, and of course shoot me a note if you ever need beta testers ;)

Colin Devroe: @davidkmckinney :-) Of course, I kid I kid. Excellent stuff all around.

Jonathon Triest: @nikitakorotaev coming soon shhhh :)

Greg Meyer: And thx @davidmckinney for the quick reply ;)

David McKinney: @machinehuman ha. I had plans to change that up a bit, but never got there :)

Lachlan Campbell: @rrhoover Yo, nice video! :)

David McKinney: @brian_lovin early days. soooo much to do. but it's alive at least. no lovin breakdowns please just yet! haha

David McKinney: @jmover Justin you are right on it. I actually just added double tap on the tab buttons to take you back to the top. I also added @mentions so you can mention other product hunters more easily. Both of these features are in the next version, which is currently waiting for review by Apple.

David McKinney: @lachlanjc excellent idea. +1

David McKinney: @machinehuman I was thinking each loading animation (P) would change for the different views. I'll get to it.

David McKinney: @mg Ryan is an animal. It's been so fun to work with him and the team.

Nathan Bashaw: @rrhoover huge congrats! this day is very well deserved, enjoy it :)

Matt Galligan: @davidkmckinney It's great! I'd love to see two things though:

1`. Ability to show ONLY iOS apps and have links open directly to StoreKit so that I can just install tons of apps.

2. The comments and web view should be conflated. All too often I want to check out the product before I see the comments – but if you default to website you might not get as much community interaction as you want. So what if you made the comments and other details a drawer that can be opened or closed. Here's a mockup:

Lachlan Campbell: @sammybauch I know, but Mailbox for iOS supports them!

David McKinney: @OurielOhayon good feedback. we're actually adding avatars into the first screen (like on the web app). It just didn't make it in this version.

David McKinney: @imkevinxu thanks Kevin. staying on brand :)

Bram Kanstein (@bramk): @rrhoover haha this ^^

Brian Lovin: @davidkmckinney haha my first reaction was looking for design details shots :P there's already a couple (love the sign-in prompt and loading 'P') - soon :)

Brian Lovin: @davidkmckinney yeah, I have hockey and testflight - i'll be waiting :D

William Channer: @davidkmckinney Thanks man :)

Matt Galligan: @rrhoover Well you've always got me around, so that's easy. We can do that in the meantime. Then just get @davidkmckinney (also, seriously we need some autocomplete action ASAP) out here and we'll get together.

David McKinney: @lachlanjc there's a bug with comments but fix for that coming soon.

David McKinney: @iorahul that's really nice feedback. love to see what you're working on.

David McKinney: @lachlanjc that's fixed in the new version too. If you tap the upvotes section in new version it takes you to a new view where you can see all the avatars and usernames. And from there you can tap into any user profile.

Ryan Hoover: @mg will shoot you an email later today! You're practically a few blocks from my apt in the TL.

Matt Galligan: @davidkmckinney I'm down. Product is my thing and Product Hunt is my jam. Let's get @rrhoover and coffee it up soon.

David McKinney: @mg this is great feedback. Love your ideas around storekit, and I am going to dig into that soon. Also, nice mockup! I can see what you're thinking. We should powwow with hoover about this some more.

David McKinney: @jtriest your feedback has helped so much already. Keep sending me feedback. I'll keep making fixes : )

David McKinney: @frankiewarren Hey Frankie. Great feedback. I agree with you on needing nav controls in the web browser. It's on the list to add soon. Re: sharing to messages, I forgot to add the url! It's fixed in the new build that is waiting for review.

Andrei M. Marinescu: @rrhoover congrats, Ryan & the rest of the PH team! Great news RE: funding, and am very excited to get to spend more time on PH, thanks to the app.

Nathan Bashaw: @davidkmckinney haha hardly! just the rails app :)

David McKinney: @czug_ I really love the comments from the founders and community. I don't think I've seen that before.

Clay Zug: @davidkmckinney yep radically different from other search/discovery engines 👍

David McKinney: @_ryangilbert bug :) fix coming soon

Mike Sho Liu: @rrhoover congrats to the entire PH team!

Clay Zug: @davidkmckinney all good!

Lyle McKeany: @davidkmckinney I figured you're on top of it! The app looks awesome, BTW.

Justin M. Overdorff: @davidkmckinney \O/

David McKinney: @lylemckeany notifications not clearing is a bug :) fixed in the new version that's waiting for review.

Lukas Fittl: @davidkmckinney And it has been great to beta test the app for the last few weeks!

Happy this day is finally here and we get to show this to everyone :)

Brock: @davidkmckinney congrats! Incredible first iteration, and the story behind it is the epitome of ProductHunt!

Filippo Mursia: @davidkmckinney am I wrong or there's a missing constraints in the Loading page? I'm on iPhone5S and the Loading text is all far right, pretty outside the screen. Btw, the app is awesome! All PH is actually awesome.

Eric Seufert: @rrhoover Congrats, Ryan. It has been fun watching Product Hunt grow into what it is today. I'm sure you have some amazing things planned for PH and I can't wait to participate in them! (*cough* Games Hunt *cough* :))
